Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall
Activities at the Bayer Children's Room
Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall offers many programs for children. The programs are designed to appeal to specific age groups:
This summer during our Summer
Reading Program, we wrote, illustrated and bound our own books.
There were about 70 participants in the program. We had a story
teller come, we read books, each of the two groups wrote a story
together and then each participant worked on writing and illustrating
their own stories. The two group books are available in our
library.
The next 2 pictures were taken at
Dr.
Seuss’s 102 Birthday Party. We
played “Ring the Gack” and read several
books by Dr.
Seuss including his first book And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry
Street.. We also looked at a book of paintings and sculptures
by
Dr. Seuss. In The Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2 flew a
kite
in the house. We all made kites, too. And best of
all, we
sang
Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss and had cake. We all blew out
the candles together. Look at the beautiful cake!
A Junie B. Jones Jamboree was
offered at the library in April.
We had a great time at our
jamboree! Some of the kids dressed as their favorite
Junie B. Jones characters. We made Graduation Caps and played
a
tossing game with graduation gowns and "Grape Juice
Dribbles". Lisa read parts of a Junie B. story as we played
"musical clothes". We ate jelly donuts and iced tea-- Junie
B.'s
favorites!
