Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall
Governor Rendell Visits
Governor Rendell visited Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall on February 14, 2004. The purpose of the visit was to get a first-hand view of the facility and understand the historical significance of the Library and Music Hall to Carnegie and the Chartiers Valley. He was at the facility for over an hour. On his facility tour Governor Rendell viewed a portion of a children's play from the balcony (The Waking Prince presented by Stage 62), visited a children's story hour at the library and discussed the collection in the Civil War Room with members of the Ninth Pennsylvania Reserves.
Governor Rendell expressed support for restoration of the facility and asked that the state be formally requested to fund some of that work.
